This offers a novel approach to screenwriting, using the non-linear format employed by most video editors. On a small smartphone screen, this approach makes it easier to access and move elements between different sequences and scripts. You can import FDX and CELTX files, and export your screenplay to all the main formats, including PDF and HTML. Pyromancer's Goggles are everything I like in a mythic rare. Flavorful, unmistakably powerful, and with an ability that makes the imagination dance with possibility. However, I wasn't expecting to see them out in force this Pro Tour weekend, and I definitely wasn't expecting there to be so many different takes on how to u.
Is your goal to break into Hollywood or film making?
Below average 2.5 0.006. Klang such as the collapse of Highland Towers which caused. The human errors because it follows a straightforward approach that is not limited to a.
Maybe to write that next great screenplay or movie that you have stuck in your mind?
Can you imagine what it’s like to have your own idea made into a movie for all to see? (That would be really cool, wouldn’t it?)
Well it’s all possible and there are tons of people just like you who break into Hollywood and film making every year. Hollywood is a town that thrives on ideas and talent. It’s a town that needs a continuous infusion of new ideas and fresh screenplays.
In fact, it is the career path of a screenwriter that allows for ANYONE to break into the Hollywood film industry at the highest level.
There are a few other careers in the world which allow someone who is a complete outsider with little to no industry contacts to break in and leap directly to the very top, bypassing the entire RAT RACE that everyone else is engaged in.
DON’T THINK IT DOESN’T HAPPEN… IT DOES.
And maybe YOU can be next. (WHY NOT YOU?)
Think about this, if you were to break into screenwriting you would be able to:
Set your own schedule.
Spend time on movie sets.
Take studio meetings.
Rub elbows with Hollywood elite.
And perhaps most importantly… GET PAID BIG BUCKS!
Just look at the pay rates and the amounts of money to be made by becoming a screenwriter:
On low budget films screenwriters get a minimum of over $62,000 for their screenplays and on higher budget films that minimum rate balloons to nearly $120,000.
But of course these are just the minimum pay rates, everyone has heard about the major deals that are in the mid-six figures and higher, even in the millions of dollars, and some of these deals are by first time writers.
Here are some examples…
Gregory Widen sold his original screenplay for “Highlander” for $500,000 and he was still in college.
Two guys named Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg, two unproduced writers, they were paid $2.5 million plus 2% of the profits when they sold their script for “Evan Almighty”.
He co-wrote the movie “Jack” that had Robin Williams star in it and was directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
It was both writers’ first feature screenplay, and I know first hand that they wrote that script in just one week, they were paid $650,000 and it sold before the ink was even dry.
And just THIS YEAR first time screenwriter and complete outsider Evan Daugherty sold his screenplay “Snow White and the Huntsman” to Universal Studios for $3 million. (You read that right… $3,000,000.)
And his screenplay was discovered because he won a screenplay competition… one that ANY screenwriter can enter.
The point of all this is screenwriting can be very lucrative… BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT RIGHT!
The reality is this, if you expect to have any chance of success in screenwriting, your material has to meet certain requirements. And the list of those requirements is long and it’s somewhat intimidating, especially if you are new to screenwriting.
For example your screenplay needs to have all of this:
Fully Developed Characters, a Compelling Plot, Proper Structure, Two Plot-Turning Points, Three Acts, a Mid-Point Scene, a Character Arc, a Theme, Subplots, Scenes & Sequences, a Climax and a Resolution.
(ONLY THEN add to that proper Screenplay Format, proper Length, proper Writing Style, properly Written Dialogue, and properly Written Action.)
Of course if you miss any of these parts, then the likelihood of your screenplay succeeding decreases significantly, if not completely.
And this is why nearly all aspiring screenwriters fail, because writing a good screenplay is not easy, it’s not impossible, but it’s just not easy. And if you think you can take some short cut and write your first script in 30 days without knowing and understanding all the different parts and requirements, then you’re just placing yourself into the vast majority of screenwriting efforts that WILL FAIL.
(YOU ARE IN THIS TO SUCCEED, RIGHT??)
WELL IT GET’S WORSE!
Because the truth is this… You can write a screenplay that meets the entire list of requirements, AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF “EXPERTS” WILLING TO TEACH YOU THEM, and yet still fail and fail in a big way!
WHY…?
Because to write a successful screenplay requires MUCH MORE, and this is the key difference between screenwriters who break through and get the big paydays and those that don’t.
You see, for a screenplay to succeed and a writer to break though, you’re script NEEDS to make all of the parts work together perfectly.
AND THIS IS WHERE THIS COURSE, SOFTWARE AND METHOD ARE SO ESSENTIAL FOR SCREENWRITING SUCCESS….
“I met Mitchell, Howard and Sean recently at the Inktip Conference in Los Angeles. After hearing a little more about what they do, I challenged Mitchell to assist me with a project that I had been hired to write. In fact, I remember telling him that I had to leave in about 45 minutes and Mitch said, “I need 10”. We sat down…just the two of us with his software Plot Control. He asked me questions, filled in the blanks, and all of the holes in my story become abundantly clear. In fact, it was inspiring. I had been struggling with the 3rd act and putting off delivery, but with the help of Plot Control it was like I plowed through a creative wall. Everything became clear. Since working with Mitch, I was able to re-craft the entire outline and get it to my Producers for approval. In fact they loved the new work.”
Steven Goldmann, DGA, DGC, Broken Bridges (Paramount), Trailer Park of Terror (Summit)
There are fundamental underlying patterns that the most successful movies share and if you want to succeed in Hollywood you need to LEARN these patterns and HOW to use them.
That’s right… there are specific patterns found in the most successful movies and these patterns cut across every genre and type:
Action, Horror, Thrillers, Comedies, Dramas and Romance Movies… THEY ALL SHARE THESE PATTERNS!
In fact over 99% of movies have these EXACT SAME PATTERNS.
These patterns are more important than everything else in a screenplay: Structure, dialogue, scene selection, plot points… you name it!
Every part of a movie is secondary to these patterns in terms of increasing a screenplay’s chance to get recognized and potentially produced into a movie.
And knowing these are much more important than most aspiring screenwriters ever realize, because these patterns are what separate the 1% of screenplays that succeed from the 99% that fail.
BUT this all goes even further…
These patterns are EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN A SCREENPLAY’S VERY IDEA or CONCEPT!
Think about it… We all know that BAD MOVIES get made all the time.
How many times have you seen a movie and were like “How the hell did THAT get made and my stuff won’t even get read?”
The answer is simple:
THESE PATTERNS ENABLE BAD MOVIES TO BE MADE!!
That’s right… most “bad” movies are usually based on “bad” ideas, but the writers GET THESE PATTERNS RIGHT!
Do you know what this means?
THIS IS WHAT INDUSTRY INSIDERS ARE LOOKING FOR WHEN THEY READ SCREENPLAYS MORE THAN ANY OTHER PART! (Whether or not they even realize it.)
Think of the advantage you’ll have knowing these patterns:
Your screenplays will be more likely to be recognized by industry readers, producers, agents and managers.
You work will be “passed along” more frequently, giving you more exposure.
The more exposure your work gets the more exposure YOU get!
And all this culminates in a “snowball effect” that will INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS!
“I was literally blown away just now by the strength of this system. I’ve been having some problems with a project I’ve been working on. I had all the components but when I put them together it resulted in a mess for which I could not think up a suitable ending. So I decided to use the 11 Questions. I answered ONE question, #8: What is the underlying idea or concept that is expressed by the PLOT or even the TITLE of your movie? By answering that one single question, I was able to come up with a Theme that changed everything for the better and gave me the hook on which I can now hang my characters and an ending with a twist. Thank You!”
SO WHAT ARE THESE PATTERNS AND HOW CAN YOU LEARN THEM?
STORY TRIANGULATION
At the heart of this concept is what we call Story Triangulation and it looks something like this:
(This diagram demonstrates the core relationships between 6 of the 8 Core Elements of a movie.)
By understanding the relationship between these parts and knowing how to craft a story that takes advantage of these relationships you will be able to:
Clearly organize your story by understanding how all the disassociated parts actually interrelate to CREATE A STORY.
Develop your idea so that it has dynamic layers and depth starting from any point of creative inspiration (such as character, theme or plot).
Identify key structural moments, such as the three acts, plot points and the midpoint scene correctly the FIRST TIME.
Craft scenes and sequences that keep your story moving forward towards a meaningful climax and ending.
Write character actions and dialogue that express the true inner depth of your characters.
Finally… you’ll easily overcome the dreaded writers block, because you’ll know everything about your story before EVEN ONE WORD OF YOUR SCREENPLAY IS WRITTEN!
THESE PATTERNS ARE NOT RANDOM!
THEY OCCUR IN THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MOVIES NO MATTER THE GENRE!
All these movies demonstrate the EXACT SAME PATTERNS at the most fundamental levels of character and plot interaction:
French Kiss, Die Hard, Good Will Hunting, Liar Liar, The Fugitive, Slumdog Millionaire, 50 First Dates, Back to the Future, Sideways, Notting Hill, Armageddon, What About Bob, Race to Witch Mountain, Rain Man…
In fact, a full list of movies would include nearly every successful movie we’ve looked at!
“I’d just like to say that your course is literally the best information that exists TODAY in screenwriting fundamentals! I originally got into the Hollywood system as in intern in production back in 1999 with the goal of becoming a writer and actor. I’ve been around the block as far as reading books, going to workshops, and even being friends with well connected executives, and none of that ever helped, or even came close to what you have taught me in 3 weeks!! I’m still blown away every single day. You’ve taken all of the guesswork out of screenwriting and I can now move forward with complete confidence that I will be a full-time writer as soon as my work gets out there over the next few months in the various competitions available. With an original idea, and backed by your formula, you basically become UNSTOPPABLE! Thank you again!”
SO HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Our approach to screenwriting centers on two unique and innovative methods of developing a story for a movie called:
“THE CORE ELEMENT METHOD” and “THE THEMATIC GAP”
The Core Element Method is simply the most comprehensive, quickest, easiest and most effective way to develop and write a story for a movie that WILL meet the highest professional standards that are expected by Hollywood readers.
The Core Element Method is about focusing on the two core components a movie, namely character and plot, and understanding how they actually relate to and interact with each other.
The Core Element Method identifies how certain parts of the main character interact directly with certain parts of the plot. These are the essential parts of a movie called the “Eight Core Elements”.
Focusing on these “Eight Core Elements” as a movie idea is developed and outlined allows a writer to seamlessly integrate a main character with the plot of the story they are telling, as well as identify relevant themes and subplots, important secondary characters, required structural moments and everything else that a PROFESSIONAL SCREENPLAY MUST HAVE.
This is a practical and applicable method that is easy to learn and use.
The results of using the Core Element Method:
Three-dimensional, deep and relevant characters.
A well developed and layered plot.
Thoroughly integrated themes and subplots!
A screenplay/movie that is built properly around the framework of the three required acts!
And concepts such as CONFLICT & DRAMA will be an AUTOMATIC RESULT of the story, rather than independent things that need to be CREATED!
This course shows you how to create your movie with clearly defined parameters for the development of your character(s), plot, themes, subplots and everything else. The result is a fully integrated story in which every part is related and relevant to all the other parts.
This is what a Core Element Map looks like:
The details of the Character / Plot relationship are incredible in the above map. Every major part of a movie can be extracted by knowing and identifying the Core Elements.
In fact, this sample map comes from a movie idea that is developed as part of course itself and THIS ONE SIMPLE MAP INCLUDES ALL OF THIS:
Relevant details about the Protagonist.
Critical details about the Plot.
Indicators of the two Plot-Turning Points.
The Primary focus of the different Acts (including Act 2).
The Theme(s).
Subplots.
The Thematic Gap and Character Arc.
The Midpoint Scene.
Secondary Relevant Characters (such as love interests and the antagonist).
The Climax and Resolution.
But it gets EVEN BETTER! From a simple Core Element Map a screenwriter can build out their structure onto the Core Element Timeline:
By using this method there is NO GUESSWORK about your structure. Key moments within a movie, such as the two major Plot-Turning Points, are easily identified. And once the timeline is arranged, coming up with scenes and sequences is easy because every key moment and everything that must be happening is clear. And concepts such CONFLICT and DRAMA will be an automatic RESULT of the writing process.
If you are a screenwriter (or aspiring to be one) you…
“In the 15 years I’ve been writing for TV and film, I have never come across a system so intuitive to the writer’s needs. This is why movies used to be better than they are now. It’s easily going to shortcut the story breaking on all my projects from now on. Its value was so clearly demonstrated when we had Mitchell sit in on a script meeting on one of my projects and in a matter minutes he identified and help solve a major plot issue that had been eluding us for weeks.”
Jeremy Miller, Writer/Producer: Entourage, Boston Public, We Are Marshall (Script Doctor), Ghost of Girlfriends Past (Script Doctor)
“I approached Mitchell for assistance on a project I have in development. His guidance was insightful and hugely helpful. Mitchell’s unique approach to screenwriting and his innovative custom software brought instant clarity to both the characters and structure of my project. I would highly recommend Plot Control as an invaluable tool for developing a screenplay.”
Diane Nabatoff, Producer (Tiara Blu Films): Girl Soldier, Take the Lead, Narc, Fear
“Mitch has developed a unique and extremely useful program to assist writers in developing a fool proof story. Having produced, written and directed movies and television for thirty years, this screenplay program is the most useful tool I have ever seen. Plot Control is the best tool for the young and established writer in helping them map out a successful story.””
Rocky Lang, Producer/Director/Writer, White Squall (A Ridley Scott Film), Nervous Ticks, Titanic
“Good story telling starts with good structure… and good structure starts with Plot Control. This software is like structure on steroids. It structures a story’s “Core Elements”, it “Triangulates” & structures your thematic elements, and of course it structures your three acts. With Plot Control structure is just done for you. (Very Cool.)”
“I’m an award winning writer/director and this system and approach to writing a movie is the most unique and effective method I have ever seen. It really does enable you to write a screenplay that will meet the highest professional standards on the very first pass.”
Tony Travis, Writer/Director/Educator, 2 Tone Films: Love Goggles (Hollywood Black Film Festival Winner)
“This is the program you want to consult for each and every project, as it guides you through the fundamental stages of story and character development and how they interrelate to make what we call a ‘movie.’ Like a pre-flight checklist or any other kind of trusted resource, I can see myself returning again and again to this program as my knowledge and understanding of character and plot deepens with every go around.”
Howard Reichman, Producer/Director/Writer, Village Filmworks: Wired City
“I’ve read heaps of books and attended countless seminars on writing screenplays. ReelWriting makes the most sense to me. It’s a step-by-step guide to cracking your screenplay’s core story that has already saved me months (perhaps years!) of precious time. Even better, working personally with Mitchell German has expedited the writing process. His structuring of key elements is genius.”
Donna Sozio (Bestselling author of Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers (Kensington 2007) and The Man Whisperer (Adams Media 2011). www.donnasozio.com
“I’ve done a few courses and read dozens of books over the years and never got even close to a decent script. After just two months or so in this program I have a first draft and even interested producers. This course showed me how to do it (which no book could) and the private coaching with Mitchell German helped me to refine the concepts clearly. Without this course I would still just be sitting with a few index cards and a disjointed story.”

“I couldn’t help but tell you that you have blown me out’a of the water. I’m a beginner and have bought a lot of ‘books’. My first script is 60 pages so far and I am stumped! Nowhere to go until now. I have read all those books and read all those parts of scripts and quotes, parts of action, etc in movies without explanation, or not much. They go on and on, but I can’t get it. It’s like other software, nothing is explained directly, underlined or marked. They don’t show me what part I want to understand so I can grasp it. Everything is in a couple of lines or a 1/4 of a paragraph. Now with yours I can rewrite and get going. I thank you mate, and my wife is having a go too. (I mean at writing).”

MORE ABOUT THE MEGA COURSE:
The Screenwriting Mega Course is comprised of 5 comprehensive modules that cover everything a screenwriter needs to know to take any concept or idea for a movie and turn it into a fully fleshed out screenplay with relevant characters, subplots and themes.
This course starts with fundamentals of screenwriting such as “What makes a story?” and script format. It then teaches the Eight Core Elements of a movie and demonstrates how these eight essential parts form the framework of any successful screenplay. It explains how theme actually integrates into a story and the relationship between the main character, theme and subplots. It delves into a detailed analysis and explanation of movie structure. It finishes with character development, scenes & sequences building, and finally story expansion and scripting. It then covers how to get your script out there and in front of the producers, directors and industry professionals.
Highland 2 0 5 – Powerful Straightforward Screenwriting Approaches Using
Here is the breakdown of the five modules:
Module 1: Screenwriting Fundamentals
Module 1 has six lessons about the basics of screenwriting. It explains clearly and concisely what a story for a movie is (and what types of “situations” are not actually stories at all). The module also covers the role of a screenwriter, movies as a visual medium, screenplay format and all the basic parts of a screenplay / movie.
The first module covers:
Introduction to the Core Element Method
Story Triangulation
The Thematic Gap
What Makes a Story
Movies as a Visual Medium
The Role of a Screenwriter
Fundamentals of Action, Dialogue & Visual Images
Screenplay Format
Basics of Characters & Plot
Basics of Structure and the 3 Acts
Basics of Plot-Turning Points
Basics of the Mid Point Scene/Shift
Basics of Subplots & Theme
Basics of Character Arc / Thematic Gap / Thematic Shift
Basics of Scenes and Sequences
Module 2: The Core Elements
Module 2 explains the Eight Core Elements. These eight fundamental parts of a movie reveal how the Protagonist and the Plot are actually and complete interwoven and relevant to each other.
This module is comprised of 6 comprehensive lessons, including one example session which reveals the Core Elements from 10 major movies, and one intensive exercise which demonstrates how to take any idea for a movie and expand it using the Core Element Method.
The second module covers:
The Character / Plot Relationship
Understanding the Protagonist
Understanding the Plot
Understanding a movie’s “Emotional Impact”
The Core Elements
The Character Component: Characterization, the Personal Goal, Plot Motivation and the Resolution Goal
The Plot Component: Setting, the Primary Situation, the Primary Obstacle and the Theme
Module 3: Working With Theme
The focus of module 3 is about how “theme” works in movies and how to integrate a theme into a story. If you are confused about what theme is or how to properly incorporate a theme into your screenplays, then this module will be invaluable.
This module has six lessons that simply teach everything you need to know about theme in movies, including an example session explaining theme from 10 major movies. The module finishes off with a demonstration of how to use the Core Elements to determine a story’s themes and the related subplots.
The third module covers:
Fundamentals of Theme
The three different ways Theme finds expression in a movie
The Unifying Idea and Subject Matter
Plot-Based Theme & Theme Integration
The Thematic Gap
Idea / Counter Idea
Positive & Negative Thematic Values
The Thematic Shift
The Primary Message
Module 4: Building Structure
Module 4 is unquestionably the most comprehensive education that you can get on screenplay / movie structure. Structure is about MUCH MORE than just THREE ACTS. You can spend enormous sums of money and attend the best film schools yet you will not learn as much as you will from this module.
This module has 13 lessons, including three example session that reveal the structural patterns of 10 major movies. Simply put this module covers everything about structure. It pulls together all of the elements that have been explained in the previous modules and demonstrates how all the different pieces come together to create a movie.
It teaches about the three (and only three) types of situations that form the backbone of any story.
It explains the difference between what a Protagonist initially tries to do and what they actually do to resolve the story.
It reveals the two (and three) secret parts that create the first Plot Turning Point as well as the ONE KEY WORD that really defines it.
It focuses on the most fundamentally important part of Act 2 – which happens to be one of the Core Elements. (Writers who don’t know what this is are certain to write a movie that will fail. And writers who do know what this will be able to craft a much more meaningful, dynamic and interesting second act.)
It reveals what actually happens near the middle of a movie, as well as the key difference between the First Plot Turning Point and the Second.
It explains EXACTLY what the climax of a movie is and how a climax differs from a movie’s resolution.
The module finishes with the introduction of the “Core Element Timeline”. This incredible lesson shows how to take the Core Elements that were fleshed out in the previous two demonstrations and integrate those elements EXACTINGLY into the structure of a movie… the results of this exercise are amazing, you end up with a story BROKEN DOWN INTO THREE ACTS & PERFECT STRUCTURE!
The forth module covers:
Act 1
The Setup
The Inciting Incident
The Movement to Resolution
The First Plot Turning Point
Act 1 Examples
Act 2
Understanding the Primary Obstacle
The two tiers of Act Two
The Protagonist’s Pyramid
The Mid-Point Shift
Theme Integration & Subplots
Thematic Gap Integration
The Second Plot Turing Point
The Resolution Goal
Four, Five (and More) Act Movies
Act 2 Examples
Act 3
The Climax
The Resolution
Act 3 Examples
Module 5: Writing the Script
The final module of the course pulls everything together.
Unlike other methods of formulating and writing screenplays that start with the creation and development of characters… THIS COURSE ENDS WITH IT.
This distinction is critical, because using other methods very often result in unfocused and unrelated characters and scenes. With this system that won’t happen because the Core Elements DICTATE what is relevant about the characters and a writer develops their characters with a very clear picture of what those characters need to do and be.
And the same thing goes for scenes, a writer knows EXACTLY what needs to happen at every point of a movie and therefore can develop and come up with the scenes that meet those goals.
The last module covers:
Character Development
Character Roles
Developing Scenes and Sequences
Working with Character Action & Dialogue
Expanding your story details into a treatment
Sitting down to your rough draft
Finally an overview of the industry with strategies on how to get your script read & sold
